Nicholas Burge

Head of Trade and Economic Section of the European Commission in Ukraine

Nicholas Burge has worked for the European Commission since 1996. In June 2012, he took up his present position as Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine.

Before his move to Kyiv, he worked at the European Commission's headquarters in Brussels on EU-Russia trade policy and trade relations, and in particular on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Before 2009, he worked for the European Commission in various positions, including industrial and enterprise relations with Russia and the CIS countries; and the development of policy and legislation on dangerous chemicals. Before moving to Brussels, Mr Burge worked in the UK for a government agency - the Health and Safety Executive – which is responsible for ensuring health and safety in the workplace.

Mr Burge graduated with a degree in Modern History from the University of Durham, UK, in 1984.
