Vasile Tofan joined Horizon Capital in August 2012, following a career in both management consulting as well as industry. At Horizon Capital, Mr. Tofan continues to build on his experience in the consumer goods and technology sectors, playing an active role in firm’s investments in tech.
Prior to joining the firm, as a consultant with Monitor Group in Amsterdam, Mr. Tofan focused on growth-enhancement projects, predominantly in the FMCG, healthcare and tech sectors, working mostly in emerging markets, including Russia, Nigeria, Romania, and Slovakia. His work ranged from marketing strategy development, sales-force effectiveness, pricing optimization and capability building. At Philips, he worked on business development and M&A projects for the Healthcare, Consumer Electronics and Lighting businesses, being admitted to Philips’ highly selective High-Potential Program. During his MBA studies at Harvard, Mr. Tofan founded and led Ovuline (now Ovia Health), a Boston-based tech start-up which grew to become a leading player in the digital health space
He received an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School and holds an Masters and Bachelors in Public Management from the Netherlands’ Erasmus University Rotterdam.
